Fresh back in the semester after the testing and our first order of business was to address the content in the generator so Josh can get on to making all the advertising material. We doubled the list lengths of all he different categories of words and of the situations and in doing so talked about the issue of perspective that arose in the test. The reason why we had been doing it all from 2nd person is because that's how we wanted our bill stickers and such to read, very much directed at the person reading them to get them to get an excuse. After trying it with a couple more people in studio and asking them what they though we decided to make the switch to first person (which meant overhauling the lists) and then for all the print content we can manually make it speak to the reader. This ends up work out better for us too because the situations written in first person will be posted on Instagram and will have the Instagram handle of the person who wrote it on it too, so it's like that particular person is telling a story. And with all of our print content it would be odd if the handle was on there too due to the perspective and I think there would be more issues around privacy and such.

The other thing that I worked on this week was building the website. We decided that to make sure we can actually finish it on time, Liam will work solely on the generator, making sure it is looking and working exactly like we want it to do, where as I will work on the rest of the site. This way we have more chance of being able to deploy a mobile version as well as desktop. After only 3 days I have already completed half of it but now comes that challenging part of integrating Instagram and Youtube directly into the site. I will post some videos next week of my process of working on it so you can see the development and the method I undertake while working. Due to the quirky aesthetic that Josh has designed, I think this next bit will take a bit of working out, because obviously embedding Instagram and Youtube comes with their own styling but I will have to override that and make it more on brand for us, I have a few ideas of how to do that, but I will have to test them before I can exaplain because I might not even know what I'm talking about.

The most interesting thing so far about this for me is that prior to this I had done a small little training module on on syntax of HTML and CSS and I had also made a mockup of what a portfolio website for myself might be like, but apart from that I haven't done any web development. However, this week for example I had to start integrating Javascript into the code and realised that it's not all that difficult. I barely know anything about JS but much like Python and C# which I learned last year, it is really easy to pick up any coding language as long as you read into what the syntax is and then use google to look up different functions to see what you need to write. I feel this may be a testament to how we were taught Programming for Creativity in the first year because we weren't necessarily taught how to code Java, more how to think with coding and Java was just a vehicle for that. So learning the frame of mind allows me to pickup any language and be able to write scripts and webpages without any proper training courses.
