These answers will relate to 18-25yr olds. And yes we would really like to get this target, it is one of our KPIs each year as we want to recruit them early and keep them as donors throughout their lifetime if possible.
What are the most common reasons why people don’t donate?
- Ineligibility
- They have to donate during working hours
- Time it takes to donate
- 2/3 non-donors don’t know where to donate and don’t try to find out
- Donation location inconvenient
- Fear of needles, blood, fainting
- Haven’t got round to it/thought of it
Why do people donate?
- Altruism, saving lives
- Want to be role models, socially and community minded
- Know someone who needs blood
- Part of their habits/routine
